I think they might be the only trilogy of movies I have ever enjoyed with the sole exception of lord of the rings, and honestly eat your fucking heart out Tolkien because the lore that is established in the Christmas prince trilogy isn’t something his dead old man brain could possibly fathom. the first movie in the trilogy is the most cookie cutter, cliche movie anyone could possibly conceive. it is the cornflakes of Christmas movies about white people. but the second and third movies are some of the most bizarre, intriguing works of cinema I have ever experienced. The ending of the third movie actually brought me to tears. The intense lore of two rival bordering kingdoms, the genius disabled child who is a master hacker, the bizarre gay subplot between the protagonist’s best friend and the antagonist of the second movie, the implication that black magic exists, the genuine themes of feminism and rising up against oppression, and the discount loki character just. I cannot recommend watching this trilogy enough. The third movie is undeniably the best and also has almost jack shit all to do with Christmas. And it made me cry.
